Energihotellet

The re-design of this hotel garden involved two main elements. The hotel, designed by Geir Grung, needed a garden at the entrance which was in keeping with the functionalist interior. The hotel also needed a kitchen garden to serve a busy hotel restaurant serving new nordic cuisine.

Working together with the head chef, we selected suitable fruit, vegetables, and edible flowers which were decorative, both in a planting scheme, and in terms of gastronomy.

For the entrance, a Japanese-inspired moss and gravel garden was created, with large rocks used to break up the space; elements which echoed the surrounding landscape and also corresponded with the minimalist aesthetic of the architecture.
