Paris Rooftop

This Paris rooftop required a layout that allowed access to a 360 degree view of the Paris skyline, whilst creating a feeling of intimacy.

Planting was used to divide the space into different ‘rooms’. Grasses and mediterranean plants were selected which were able to cope with the dry and windy conditions, but which also provided colour and texture. Existing borders were used and densely planted up to spill over and disrupt formality. Pots were selected with different heights and shapes to break up any strict lines and to allow the scheme to feel more dynamic.

Working with the client, acclaimed British furniture designer Lucy Kurrein, tables, chairs and planters were selected with a reduced palette - with colours to respond to the cityscape, such as orange to correlate with the existing chimney pots.

The result was an intimate space with expansive views, used for entertaining and relaxing, with spaces of shade and shelter provided by small specimen trees.
